CURRENT PRACTICE

James Kewley is a commercial barrister specialising in trade practices/consumer law proceedings, banking law, insurance law, intellectual property disputes, and, since 2005 when he became a pilot, aviation law. James is also a Nationally Accredited Advanced Mediator.

James has been briefed in a number of long running professional negligence proceedings and contractual disputes. He also has considerable experience making urgent applications, including freezing and search orders, and urgent interlocutory orders in the Federal Court with regard to aviation matters.

James graduated from Monash University Law School in 1981, having served articles with Neville Lane at Middleton Oswald Burt & Co, he was admitted to practice in 1982. James is admitted to practice in all Australian jurisdictions and the High Court.

In 1984 James commenced a sole practice in the City, specialising in commercial law and commercial litigation.

James signed the Bar Roll in late 1989.
