Before coming to the bar, Keir was Associate to the Honorable Justice Robert Redlich in the Victorian Court of Appeal. During his associateship he gained a broad range experience in the appellate jurisdiction in both civil and criminal matters. Keir has recently appeared in the Victorian Court of Appeal in a number of criminal appeals including;

Keir has also appeared in the Northern Territory Court of Criminal Appeal in the matter of Westrupp v The Queen [2010] NTCCA 01
Since coming to the bar Keir has been briefed in various matters including; criminal, civil, commercial, taxation, contractual disputes, debt/bankruptcy, children's court, IVO's, costs disputes and insurance related matters. Keir has recently been briefed to appear as junior to Mr Michael Bearman in a tax appeal in the Federal Court. The appeal is from a decision of the AAT Taxation Appeals Division (AATA) in the matter of Sogo Duty Free Pty Ltd and Commissioner of Taxation [2010] AATA 111 (12 February 2010)
Keir also has an interest in social justice and has undertaken a number of pro bono matters for PILCH including;
Cowling v Alexander [2009] VCC 41 (18 February 2009) (acting for the Plaintiff in a taxation of costs dispute)
R v Howell (County Court -27 November 2009) (provision of advice on proposed appeal- (Junior to Mr Robert Lombardi)
Liang & Zhu v Chalmers [2010] VSC 241 (4 June 2010) (acting for the respondent Mr Chalmers in a compensation matter under a s 85 of the Sentencing Act. A notice of appeal has been lodged with the Court of Appeal registry. (Junior to Ms Caroline Kenny SC).
Keir has also worked as a duty barrister for the Victorian Bar Duty Barrister Scheme at Melbourne and Dandenong Magistrates Courts.
Before commencing a career in the law, Keir was involved in the IT industry for 10 years. He worked as marketing manager for a telecommunications software company and co-founded Internet Business Solutions Pty Ltd, a company specialising in internet security solutions for business. As Managing Director Keir oversaw the companys rapid growth over a six year period from a small start-up to a successful enterprise employing over 25 staff.
