Prior to coming to the Bar, Susan worked as a solicitor for Women’s Legal Service Victoria (WLSV) for 3 years during which time she developed particular expertise in the areas of family law and family violence, appearing in the Family Court, Magistrates’ Court and Federal Magistrates’ Court.
At WLSV Susan was responsible for supervising other solicitors providing advice on the telephone advice line. The advice line covered advice on family law matters, family violence and criminal matters.
Susan then went on to work as the Family Violence Duty Lawyer at the Heidelberg Magistrates' Court for two and half years. Her role there was focused on intervention order applications and criminal proceedings for breaches of intervention orders.
Since coming to the Bar, Susan has practised primarily in the Family Court and Federal Magistrates’ Court in family matters, and the Magistrates’ and County Courts in criminal and de facto property matters. Susan also appears regularly in the Magistrates’ Court on behalf of both complainants and defendants in intervention order applications, and in the Children’s Court family and criminal divisions.
